Nelnet continues its support of the United Negro College Fund with $25,000 donation

Indianapolis, Ind., December 8, 2006 - Nelnet is pleased to announce its continued support of the United Negro College Fund (UNCF) with a $25,000 donation. Over the last three years, Nelnet has contributed more than $225,000 to the UNCF scholarship fund to help minority students reach their higher education goals.

On Friday, December 8, the "UNCF Evening with the Stars Gala" is being held at the Westin Indianapolis. Nelnet Chief Communications Officer Cheryl Watson will be at the event to present this year’s check.

Nelnet and the Nelnet Foundation fund more than one million dollars in scholarships annually; these scholarships benefit students across the country. Through philanthropic endeavors, education planning tools, and education financing, Nelnet supplies college-seeking families with the means and key resources to fulfill their education goals.

For 28 years, Nelnet has been helping education-seeking families plan for their education, pay for their education, and prepare for their careers. The company has invested hundreds of millions of dollars in products, services, and technology improvements for students and the educational institutions they attend. These services include live counseling to guide families through all aspects of the financial aid process, benefits for borrowers, including tens of millions of dollars in fee reductions, and Nelnet-sponsored scholarships.
