Nelnet celebrates HACU's 20th anniversary at annual conference in San Antonio, Texas, October 28-31

Lincoln, Neb., October 27, 2006 – Nelnet, Inc. (NYSE: NNI) is pleased to sponsor the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities' (HACU) 20th annual conference, October 28-31, 2006. The event will take place at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio, Texas.

With more than 2.7 million Hispanic students in college and another 4 million expected to enter by 2009, Nelnet and HACU have partnered to provide unique programs to assist the education-seeking Hispanic family. Nelnet College Planning representatives will address conference participants and shed light on the many planning and financing options available to students and parents. In addition, Nelnet will present cost-saving opportunities for schools in enrollment services, lead generation, retention, and financial aid assistance.

In addition, at the partnership luncheon on October 30, the Honorable Mike Johanns, U.S. Secretary of Agriculture, will accept the Outstanding HACU Public Sector Partner Award on behalf of the United States Department of Agriculture. At the same event, Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison from Texas, will be recognized for her legislative efforts to improve higher educational opportunities for Hispanics.
