Nelnet’s 5k charity run/walk raises $5,000 for Treehouse

Lincoln, Neb., July 11, 2006 – Nelnet (NYSE: NNI), a leading education services and finance company, contributed $5,000 to Treehouse, an organization that educates and assists the foster youth of Seattle, Wash. Last week, Nelnet hosted a 5k charity run/walk in Seward Park in Seattle and matched the $20 registration fee for more than 100 participants for the donation.

The third annual Nelnet Race for Education was held in conjunction with the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (NASFAA) conference. “What a tremendous day for Nelnet and Treehouse,” said David Bottegal, Chief Executive Officer of Nelnet’s Education Services division. “Both organizations believe in helping kids attain a valuable and affordable education.”

The following participants placed in this years’ Nelnet 5k:

Last July, the charity race was held in New York City and raised $5,000 for local schools to buy books. The inaugural race was held in Minneapolis, Minn. in July 2004.
